Writings on Languages, Classics, Patristics, and Theology
I read this recently as well, along with two other books in the series, Retrieving the Tradition and Tradition, Scripture, and Interpretation. You're right, I think, that the books don't have mass appeal, but at the same time his running thesis is really incontrovertible--that even evangelicals have an interpretive tradition, whether they know it or not!I actually have a class with Williams this fall at Baylor, and I'm very much looking forward to it.
I just picked up Tradition, Scripture and Interpretation the other day. Haven't had a chance to dip into it yet.
